For the first time in Mongolia, the BestGER Green Building assessment methodology was developed by the Mongolian Green Building Institute and approved by the Ministry of Construction, Urban Development, and Housing in December 2024. Under this methodology, simplified-type green building auditors authorized to assess and certify single-family residential buildings received their certificates on June 27, 2025.

These specialists completed a 9-day training program consisting of green building theoretical knowledge, practical exercises on evaluating design drawings, simulation software training, and hands-on practice in conducting operational-stage assessments on two types of completed single-family houses. After successfully passing a two-stage examination, they became Mongolia’s first certified Green Building Auditors nationwide.
Representatives from the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction and Housing, the Construction Development Center, GMIT, MUST (Mongolian University of Science and Technology), the Mongolian National Construction Association, as well as member organizations of the Mongolian Green Building Institute (MNBGI), attended the certificate awarding ceremony. They congratulated the newly certified “Simplified Green Building Auditors” and wished them success.
With clearly defined criteria for evaluating green buildings and the preparation of the necessary human resources, this initiative offers multiple benefits, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water and other resources, lowering building operational costs, attracting green investments, and improving accessibility to green loans for citizens.
